Christopher S. Johnson was born on November 18, 1972, in Houston, Texas, to Charles and Ritchie Johnson. In June 2011, Chris was diagnosed with Renal Medullary Carcinoma (RMC), a rare and aggressive form of kidney cancer. Despite fighting courageously, he passed away 15 months later, leaving behind a legacy of strength and resilience. Chris received most of his medical care at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Sugar Land, under the expert guidance of Drs. Tannir and Sarma.
During his battle with cancer, Chris found it difficult to remain idle. Channeling his energy and creativity, he founded CSJ Photography, where he captured life’s moments through his lens and completed several photo shoots. His creativity didn’t stop there; he and his friends designed a unique logo for a baseball cap using his initials, “CJ.” The “C” symbolized his arms, and the “J” represented his body, intertwining to stand for “Standing Strong While Fighting With Faith.” This powerful design has since become the logo for the Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation, Inc., a symbol of his enduring spirit.
Chris was also an accomplished world traveler, thanks to his career with Shell. His adventures took him to Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Italy, Brazil, Dubai, Cabo San Lucas, Amsterdam, and many other global destinations. He had an insatiable curiosity, always eager to learn about different cultures, ethnic cuisines, oil and gas industries, and the stock market. His travels and inquisitive nature contributed to his extensive knowledge and broad perspective on life.
Chris was a man who cherished his family and friends deeply. Known for his infectious laughter and vibrant personality, he was always the life of the party. His warm aura, magnetic eyes, and captivating smile drew people—both young and old—toward him, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.
Chris leaves behind a loving family, including his son, daughter, grandson, parents, brother, sister-in-law, grandparents, and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a wide circle of friends.
His legacy continues to shine through the Chris “CJ” Johnson Foundation, Inc., ensuring that his spirit of strength, creativity, and love lives on.
