  • February 09, 2024

Edward Lee Perkins was born on January 14, 1983 to Charles Lee Perkins (deceased) and Ivory J. Perkins. Edward was a member of St. Alphonsus Liguori “Rock” Catholic Church where he was baptized on May 6, 1984 by Rev. Robert Wirth, C. S.s.R. Edward passed away on February 9, 2024 due to complications of renal medullary carcinoma (RMC).

SGT Perkins served the United States Army with honor and distinction. SGT Perkins served seven years in the active component while being stationed at Fort Reilly, Kansas. At the height of the pandemic, SGT Perkins continued his service to his country by transitioning into the United States Army Reserves, serving in the 307th Psychological Operations Company for the next four years.

Edward was a very comical person. he could make you laugh with an expression or a simple sentence. When he was young and the kids would put on a play, dance or sing for the family gatherings, Edward’s routine would be to imitate “Steve Erkle” of Family Matters. He would roll up his pant legs, pull up his pants, put on a pair of glasses and suspenders, bend his knees, make a Steve Erkle face and say, “did I do that?” Simply hilarious. The day prior to his death, three nurses from chemotherapy/radiation came to visit. As they were talking, Edward stated, “I wish I had more time.” Although his time on earth lasted 41 years, he accomplished more than some who have lived twice as long.

Edward leaves to cherish his memory; a devoted companion Yvonne Walter, His children, Edward, Lamont, Kaylynn, Kharlee, his mother, Ivory Perkins; Sisters and Brother, Latauyna, Charles (Michelle), Julia (Darius), Jennifer, Janet (Derrick) and other family members and friends.
