  • June 30, 2023

Linda Amaka Osuorji was born on April 6, 1983 in Lagos, Nigeria to Jacob and Dorothy Osuorji. She migrated to the United States with her mother at the age of 3. Linda was true and pure hearted inside and out. She was a devout Christian and catholic. She took her faith and personal relationship with God seriously. She firmly believed in the will of Gad and never hesitated to thank God for her life, her family and the friends God put in her life.
She attended Enterprise High School in Redding California. She also attended Chico State University in California. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2005. She went further in her education and earned a master’s degree in Management from Saint Mary’s College in 2016.
Linda was very passionate about helping children transition into adulthood. This validated her decision and choice to pursue a career around that passion. She became a Youth and College Counselor. She worked as a Program Coordinator for Big Brothers and Big Sisters from 2008 to 2016. She mentored and assisted disadvantaged children. She helped children to attain college admissions and scholarships. Linda worked for BCS/YMCA of Central Bay Area as a Program Manager from 2017-2022. In this capacity, she continued to help her students through counseling, pairing them up with mentors, and helping them shape their academic and career choices. She was an advocate for the youth, educational attainment and career actualization.
All through her 18 months battle with renal medullary carcinoma (RMC), though very painful, she never wavered in her faith and strong will to live. She was very brave and strong until the end, encouraging those around her and helping others in treatment to focus on the small joys in life instead of the sad days spent inside.
Linda’s fight ended December 2022. She leaves behind a legacy of taking joy in the small things and loving her family and friends. I hope that together we will remember her beautiful smile, vibrant personality, enjoy every get together with family and friends, and mourn her memory with all the good times shared together with her.
